How to Pick an Amtrak Destination

Choosing the perfect destination for your Amtrak trip can be both enjoyable and overwhelming. With numerous places to explore by rail, it can be challenging to decide where to go.

First, it’s essential to define your travel goals. Are you looking for a day trip, a weekend escape, or a scenic train route to enjoy the views? Or are you planning a more extended vacation with multiple stops? Clarifying your goals will help you narrow down the best options and set realistic expectations.

Once you know your goals, researching the destinations becomes easier. I like to use tools like Google Maps to visualize my options and check for any events happening at my potential destinations. Timing is also crucial—when to travel often depends on weather, local events, and your availability.

While there is no “perfect” time for everyone, aligning your trip with these considerations can ensure a more enjoyable experience.

For years, I took Amtrak on day trips and developed a few tips and tricks to create places to explore. I want to share those with you in my newest article on picking Amtrak destinations.

Would you be interested in merch?

I’ve considered creating merchandise to spread awareness about train travel and Travels with Kev. Are you interested? What kind of merchandise would you like to see?

If people are interested, I am thinking of starting with something small like stickers and expanding from there; I have postcards you could purchase. Would you buy either?

Your thoughts on this would be appreciated, so feel free to respond to this email with your input. Thank you!

What Kev Has Been Up To!

I have started pulling out the sweaters and light jackets, which can be fun and rewarding. It is fun to find those headphones you lost or a five- (or more) dollar bill in your pocket that you could not find last year.

This week, I helped move an organ back to the church it was at. While the act in itself is not fun, the time I get to spend with my friend is great, along with getting out of the house, going for a ride, and seeing different places.

I am working on improving the Travels with Kev Facebook Page. I am starting to post more updates and changes related to Amtrak as I am able. If you are interested, you can like and Follow me.
