Amtrak is on Google Flights And More News

Travels with Kev Newsletter

Hello Reader,

Thanks for joining me for another Amtrak update and more!

Amtrak’s Wolverine 350 & 353 Return To Service

Due to ongoing track work, the Wolverines 350 and 353 have been out of service for the past few months. With that work nearing completion, the Wolverine Service will resume on October 19, 2024, allowing you to enjoy your morning coffee again while traveling to Battle Creek or wherever your southern Michigan Adventures take you.

Amtrak has tickets available for these trains, so it’s the perfect time to book your seat!

Amtrak In Now On Google Flights

Google Flights now displays Amtrak options alongside flights when available. This move helps raise awareness about rail travel and potentially attract more passengers to Amtrak. By showcasing rail alternatives, Google Flights encourages eco-friendly choices that reduce emissions and expand people’s travel options.

If you are unfamiliar with Google Flights, it is a tool that enables you to compare multiple flights simultaneously. You can also search for flights from numerous airports simultaneously, making it easier to find the best route.

What Kev Has Been Up To!

My upcoming travel plans have changed. My original plan to fly my mom to my sister’s place may now involve a road trip at some point.

Last week, I took my parents for their eye exams and found out that my mother had a torn retina. She had successful surgery yesterday and is now doing well!

I will still go as planned but stay longer to help my sister and her family because my mom needs to take it easy. We also canceled my dad’s trip because he was supposed to join my mom there.

All the changes only cost me $6, and I got some points back. Plus, I upgraded to an extra-legroom seat.

Last week, my friends in St. Petersburg, whom I planned to visit in November, suffered damage from the hurricane. However, I still plan to go there, and I’m looking forward to riding the Floridian during its first week and seeing Ben and Jeff again.

If you have been affected by the hurricane, I want to let you know that you are in my thoughts, and I hope you can find some peace amidst the turmoil in your life.

One lesson I learned early on is always to be willing to pivot, and it does not hurt to have a plan B.
